On 12 March, a group of interns from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) visited IIASA to learn about its research activities and interact with its scientists.
Representing a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, the interns were introduced to IIASA’s work and the fundamentals of applied systems analysis by Fabian Wagner, Dean of Capacity Development and Academic Training (CDAT).
Following the introductory session, Roman Hoffmann, who leads the Migration and Sustainable Development (MIG) Research Group within IIASA’s POPJUS Program, delivered a presentation on the role of population research in understanding societal change and informing future development pathways, with a focus on migration and its drivers. The visit also enabled valuable exchange and discussion.
