This meeting will focus on synthesizing and integrating the information obtained form all technical work packages, including the results of measurements and modelling. The synthesis will also take into account the results from previous research and from other ongoing projects.

EMERGE is an innovative 4-year project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme. The project aims at quantifying and evaluating the effects of potential emission reduction solutions for shipping in Europe and developing effective strategies and measures to reduce the environmental impacts of shipping.

In this meeting, partners will assess the impact of shipping for the European sea regions (Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea and other sea areas). They will develop a simplified assessment tool that can be used by decision-makers and stakeholders. The synthesis and integration, as well as recommendations and policy guidance, will be completed after the modelling and analysis stages; however, these aspects will be considered during all project stages and meetings. Partners will identify emission control configurations that are optimal for air quality and water quality, and the marine environments. Trade-offs will be identified, and options ranked by their cost-effectiveness.
