International Christian School of Vienna visits IIASA

Brian Fath and Zuelclady Araujo Guitierrez addressed the subject of systems thinking through a discussion on the life cycle analysis of a bar of chocolate.

This visit marked the third of many more to come in 2024. Systems thinking is crucial for tackling global issues. Encouraging students to think about the complexity of the natural and social world they live in is one of the key objectives of the IIASA School Visits Initiative.

IIASA’s engagement program for schools

We believe that future leaders need to acquire systems thinking skills as early as possible. Therefore, we at IIASA not only train graduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, postdocs, and professionals, but also bring systems thinking to the children and teenagers at schools (initially in Austria) to develop relevant skills at a point where young people start to think fundamentally about the complexity of the natural and social world they live in.
