SciDataCon is the international conference for scrutiny and discussion of the frontier issues of data in research. The IIASA contribution to SciDataCon 2022 focuses on data stewardship for sustainability science.
The scope of SciDataCon covers policy matters and the place of data in the scientific endeavor and scholarly communications; the opportunities of the data revolution for the global research enterprise; innovations in data science and data stewardship; and the challenge of developing a sustainable data ecosystem, including the role of education and capacity building.
SciDataCon is organized by the two data bodies of the International Science Council (ISC): CODATA (the ISC Committee on Data) and the ISC World Data System International Programme Office (WDS), as an integral part of International Data Week.
IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis (ASA) Program Director, Elena Rovenskaya, will be convening and moderating a session on Data Stewardship for Sustainability Science. The session will review the experience of research institutions focusing on sustainability science in the area of data stewardship implementation. Among the speakers of this session is ASA Principal Research Scholar, Steffen Fritz, who has been leading the implementation of data stewardship at IIASA.
