Biography
Susanna Dedring joined IIASA in 2024 and is currently a researcher in the Pollution Management Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program. She develops and applies the IIASA Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollution Interactions and Synergies (GAINS) model to evaluate the impact of policy interventions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. Currently, she is working on updating the ozone formulation in the GAINS model.Prior to joining IIASA, Dedring worked in the World Bank’s Environment Global Practice, focusing on air quality management and climate finance in the Europe and Central Asia regions. Among other things, she supported the preparation of an industrial emission financing project and co-authored an assessment on air quality management in Tajikistan.
Dedring holds a master’s degree in climate change from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and a bachelor's degree in environmental and sustainability studies from the Leuphana University Lueneburg, Germany, with a study visit at the West-Hungarian University of Sopron in Hungary.
