Biography

Shigan Liu is a research assistant in the Pollution Management Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program.

His primary research interests include air quality modeling; fine particulate matter source-receptor relationships; atmospheric composition; and artificial intelligence (AI) for science.

He is currently completing his PhD in Atmospheric Science at the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, working closely with Prof. Qiang Zhang. Prior to his PhD studies, he completed a bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science at the School of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China.

In 2023 he was awarded the Outstanding Student Presentation Award during the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2022 Fall Meeting.
