Biography

Sarah Kilpatrick is a researcher in the Migration and Sustainable Development Research Group of the IIASA Population and Just Societies Program. She is passionate about using mathematics to improve our understanding of the world around us, primarily using advanced statistics to support scientific expertise in migration studies, using environmental and demographic data.

She also has experience conducting atmospheric science research. As an undergraduate, she helped National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) researchers in the United States establish linkages between variability in the tropical Pacific Ocean and snowfall in the Pacific Northwest. Her passion lies in working at the intersection of geophysics and population studies.

She is currently a PhD student at the University of Vienna. She holds a master's degree in data science from the University of Washington.
