Biography
Sarah Hathiari is a guest researcher in the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program. During her time at IIASA, she coauthored publications as part of the ECOANTITRUST project, advancing the use of complex adaptive systems methodologies for digital competition policy. She also conducted research on the opportunities and challenges around international carbon markets and trading mechanisms as part of the CAMEA project. She has also been an active member of the Women in Science Club at IIASA. She led the first publication of the Women in Science magazine, which highlights women’s experiences and achievements in the field of research.Hathiari is currently pursuing a PhD in social policy and sciences at the University of Bath in the UK. Her doctoral research explores the intersection of climate justice and gender equality, focusing on how unconditional cash allocations can foster equitable and sustainable outcomes.
In 2023, she earned a master’s degree in economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien). She has coauthored research reports with Equal Right and Project Deep, and contributed publications to the European Policy Crossover Center, WU Standpunkte. She was formerly a research assistant with the Heterodox Economics Institute at WU Wien.
