Biography

Romain Clercq-Roques is a research scholar in the Systemic Risk and Resilience (SYRR) Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis (ASA) Program. His main research interest is in the resilience and sustainability of social-ecological systems, notably the identification of policies co-benefiting human wellbeing and nature. He specializes in participatory mixed-methods, including agent-based modeling and soft system approaches.

Clercq-Roques is completing a PhD in public health at the Imperial College London, studying the social-ecological system dynamics connecting biodiversity and nutrition in Madagascar. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in law and political sciences from Pantheon-Sorbonne University, a master’s degree in international law from Pantheon-Assas University, and a master’s degree in public health from King’s College London. He also worked as a humanitarian worker and legal advisor in various countries with the International Committee of the Red Cross for eight years.
