Biography
Pratik Patil is a researcher in the Systemic Risk and Resilience Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program. His research revolves around social-ecological transformation and the global polycrisis.Patil's research is driven by a commitment to make a meaningful and positive difference as humankind’s collective near-term choices are likely to have a long-term impact on the future trajectories of sentient life. He aspires to integrate diverse scientific methods, knowledge, and ethical perspectives toward a coherent synthesis needed to navigate the global challenges.
Patil's multidisciplinary background includes a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from the University of Mumbai, India, and a master’s degree in socio-ecological economics and policy (SEEP) from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) in Austria. In addition, he has extensive professional work experience in software development.
Patil's contributions include academic papers, book chapters, reports, policy briefs, and public talks on various topics including global sustainability, human agency, environmental geopolitics, security paradigms, the evolution of technologies, and the sociology of science. He is currently also pursuing a PhD in social and economic sciences at the WU.
