Biography

Philipp Piribauer PhD, is currently a guest researcher with the Ecosystem Services and Management program (ESM) at IIASA. In cooperation with Tamas Krisztin from IIASA, Dr. Piribauer is working on two projects funded by the Austrian National Bank (OeNB). The first project focusses on the development of small-scale spatial econometric models in order to study urban sprawl and regional land-use change patterns. The second project aims at studying regional FDI flows in pan-European regions.

Since 2016, Dr. Piribauer has been a research staff member in the Structural Change and Regional Development research department of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO). Prior to joining the WIFO, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Institute for Macroeconomics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). From 2012-2015 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Economic Geography and GI Science at the WU Vienna. He holds a doctorate degree in economics and social sciences from the WU Vienna. His main research areas comprise Bayesian econometrics, economic forecasting, regional science as well as time series econometrics.
