Peiyu Lai

Biography

Peiyu Lai is a Guest Research Assistant in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Ecosystem Services Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program. Her research focuses on understanding how crops respond to heat stress under changing climate conditions. She uses crop modeling, flux observations, and environmental data to investigate how vegetation regulates photosynthesis, water use, and growth under stress. By linking detailed insights into vegetation physiological responses with crop modeling, her work aims to improve the understanding of crop vulnerability to extreme heat at larger spatial scales and support more reliable predictions of future agricultural productivity under climate change.
