Biography

Michael Wögerer is a researcher in the Integrated Biosphere Futures Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program. He contributes to several Horizon Europe projects, including LAMASUS, BrightSpace, AgEnRes, CHOICE, and SWITCH, where his work focuses on land use modeling, the development of sustainable food system scenarios, and the integration of spatial and economic data into model-based assessments.

His research interests lie at the intersection of spatial economics, land use, and environmental policy. At IIASA, he develops and applies econometric methods to improve the representation of land management practices and consumer behavior in integrated assessment models. He also supports data processing, harmonization, and model calibration efforts to strengthen the empirical foundation of scenario analysis.

Wögerer joined IIASA in 2019. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), where he is currently pursuing his PhD. His academic focus includes Bayesian estimation techniques and spatial economic modeling.
