Biography

Michael Le Gohebel works as program and project officer in the Integrated Biosphere Futures (IBF) Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources (BNR) Program. Within the IBF Research Group, he is the prime contact point for internal and external project related issues. He coordinates and monitors complete project processes, and provides support for the acquisition of research funds thanks to his experience in proposal preparation for numerous international funding schemes.

Le Gohebel first joined IIASA as research management officer of the Environmental Resources and Development Research Group of the former Ecosystems Services and Management Program in September 2017. Prior to joining IIASA, he worked as project coordinator at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna, where he was in charge of facilitating the preparation and submission of research proposals, as well as coordinating the administration of grants. He also worked for the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) European Affairs Department in Paris, Bordeaux, and Brussels; as European project manager at the Slovak Academy of Sciences at the Institute of Physics in Bratislava, Slovakia; and as project administrator at the Centre for Social Innovation in Vienna, Austria.

In addition to a Bachelor’s in foreign languages (English/German), Le Gohebel graduated with a Master’s in European Studies and International Relations with a focus on European project management from the Universities of Cergy-Pontoise and Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University, France.
