Biography

Max Wolschlager is a software engineer in the Integrated Assessment and Climate Change Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment Program, where he builds research software for systems modeling workflows. As part of his work, he constructs efficient data pipelines, develops tools, and creates user interfaces to help researchers handle and disseminate research outputs.

Wolschlager is an autodidact with a cross-disciplinary background spanning software engineering, multimedia art, and algorithmic graphic design. Early in his career, he worked in startup and medtech environments, then moved through artistic technology and independent consulting before joining IIASA. Passionate about open-source software and digital rights, he enjoys fostering collaborations with researchers to create tools that advance scientific discovery and actively participates in open-tech communities.
