Biography

Keerthana Suresh joined the Water Security Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program in November 2021, as a PhD researcher working on the inventWater Project. Her work includes the development of global indicators for water quality to assist evidence-based decision-making using integrated water quality modeling. She collaborates with international researchers from Utrecht University and Wageningen University & Research in The Netherlands.

She has a background in Environmental Engineering and obtained a master’s degree in Integrated Sustainable Design from the National University of Singapore. She also completed an advanced master’s degree in Sustainable Water Resources from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), with a research focus on nature-based solutions for flood mitigation. Her prior professional experience includes water services design at multiple-scales (e.g., buildings, masterplan), water-sensitive urban design, geo-spatial mapping, environmental evaluation, and baseline studies. Her interests are in addressing the issues of ecosystem restoration, climate change, and water security.
