Biography
Dominik Weckmüller is a guest researcher in the Novel Data Ecosystems for Sustainability Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program and a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Dresden‘s Institute of Cartography.
He is a geospatial data scientist and full-stack software engineer with broad expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and geo-marketing. His research explores the application of deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and big data techniques to social geography, with a particular interest in earth observation.
Weckmüller is a strong advocate of open-source principles and shares his knowledge through his blog, and various open-source projects. He also works as a freelancer, for example, as part of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC).
