Biography
Dilek Yildiz first joined IIASA in July 2017 and is currently a research scholar in the IIASA Population and Just Societies Program. Since 2021, she is also a guest lecturer in the Global Demography master’s program at the University of Vienna. Her research interests are in statistical demography with a focus on Bayesian projections/reconstruction of multistate populations, composition of migration flows, and investigating the use of big data sources and machine learning models in demographic research.Between 2016 and 2023, she was also employed at the Vienna Institute of Demography. Previously, she worked as a teaching assistant and as a researcher at the University of Southampton, UK. In addition, she worked at various stages of the Turkey Demographic and Health Survey-2008, and as a research assistant at Hacettepe University in Turkey, where she completed her master’s degree in economic and social demography. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton Department of Social Statistics and Demography.
