Biography
Dejana Golic joined IIASA in September 2024 as a data analyst in the Integrated Biosphere Futures Research Group of the Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program. She contributes to a range of collaborative projects, ranging from projects focused on land use and land management policy development (LAMASUS) and better understanding of rural areas (GRANULAR), to a project aimed at advancing sustainable and healthy food systems through behavioral and policy innovation (SWITCH).Her work focuses on the collection, harmonization, visualization, and transformation of spatial, environmental, and socioeconomic datasets to ensure consistency and readiness for integration into modeling frameworks. She is particularly interested in research related to geoinformatics, GIS, spatial analyses, agriculture, and the environmental impacts of global change.
Golic holds a joint master’s degree in soils and global change from Ghent University, the University of Gottingen, and BOKU University, supported by a full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Before joining IIASA, she was a trainee at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), where she worked on climate suitability analyses and quantitative pest risk assessments within the Plant Health and Risk Assessment Team. Her responsibilities included data extraction, visualization, and preparing maps for scientific opinions, where she was credited as a coauthor.
