Biography

Daniel Kroos serves as a guest research scholar in the Cooperation and Transformative Governance Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program. His research interests include investigating effective governance models for policy change toward reaching a sustainable energy transition that balances energy security, equity concerns, and climate change challenges in emerging economies and models for the protection of critical energy networks from natural hazards including climate risks.

Kroos is an experienced professional with a strong track record of implementing projects both for multinational companies and international organizations including multilateral banks, the EU, OSCE, and governments in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Southeast Asia. He co-authored a number of various publications including Advancing Energy Security in Central Asia (OSCE) and the Handbook on Protecting Electricity Networks from Natural Hazards (OSCE). In addition, he serves on the Panel of Experts at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on Energy and is a senior advisor to the World Energy Council Austria.
