Biography

Charlotte Janssens joined the Ecosystems Services and Management program (ESM) as a Guest Researcher Assistant in June 2018. She is an FWO PhD Fellow for strategic basic research at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium working on agricultural trade and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Ms. Janssens obtained an interdisciplinary master's degree in Agro- and Ecosystems Engineering: Major Economics from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium. During her master thesis research, she worked for three months at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Ghana, performing quantitative econometric analysis and qualitative field research.

During her PhD research, Ms. Janssens will contribute to the development of international trade in the global economic land use model GLOBIOM in the context of climate change. Her principal research interest is to combine economic, agricultural and environmental sciences to analyze challenges related to climate change, natural resource management and food security.
