Biography
Carla Catania joined IIASA as a researcher in the Water Security Research Group of the Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program in March 2024.She works on modeling the effects of climate change on water resources in the Danube basin as part of the Danube Water Balance project. She also contributes to the development of the Community Water Model (CWatM).
In the past, she worked as a research analyst for Industrial Economics Incorporated (IEC) where she modeled the effects of climate change on the water, agriculture, and fisheries sectors of several Latin American and African countries.
In 2022, she obtained a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) specializing in integrated water resources management and the water-food-energy nexus. As part of her master's thesis, she worked on the development of policies to enhance water and food security policies in Jordan.
