Biography

Ann-Kathrin Petersen is a researcher in the Integrated Assessment and Climate Change Research Group of the IIASA Energy, Climate and Environment Program. Her research focuses on climate adaptation and adaptation pathways, with current work supporting the SPARCCLE project on sectoral adaptation pathways and the Pathways2Resilience project.

Previously, she gained experience in climate change adaptation, climate risk management, and loss and damage in the context of EU policy development and implementation, development cooperation, and research while working at Climate Analytics, the European Commission, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Petersen holds a BSc in Geosciences from the University of Bremen, Germany and an MSc in Geography of Environmental Risk and Human Security from the University of Bonn and the United Nations University, Germany. In her studies, she focused on adaptation to sea level rise, coastal risks, and nature-based solutions.
