Biography
Amanda Palazzo has been a research scholar in the Integrated Biosphere Futures Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program since 2012. She is one of the core developers of the partial-equilibrium Global Biosphere Management Model (GLOBIOM). As part of this work, she focuses on the water-energy-land-climate nexus. She has also worked extensively with stakeholder communities to improve the relevance of modeling tools for local and regional contexts by co-developing scenarios that incorporate local insights, challenges, and development priorities.Palazzo is the co-founder and current president of the IIASA Women in Science Club (WISC), which amplifies the scientific contributions of women and provides an inclusive platform for members to work together to tackle the challenges facing women in science. She also co-coordinates the WISC mentoring program.
Prior to joining IIASA, Palazzo worked at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) as a developer of the International Model for Policy Analysis of Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT).
