Biography

Alma Mendoza graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She earned her MSc in Environmental Sciences from UNAM in 2008, and a further MSc in Management and Conservation of Species in Trade: The International Framework from the International University of Andalusia, Spain in 2011. She received her PhD in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences from the University of Edinburgh (UK). Her thesis research was focused on the effects of land use cover change on biodiversity under different scenarios in Mexico.

Dr. Mendoza has previously worked on environmental impact assessments, forest management assessments and conservation planning in Mexico. With the Ecosystems Services and Management Program (ESM), she will be working on an updated model of land use changes in Mexico through the integration of new IPCC scenarios data. The outputs will be used to analyze the effects of the land use cover change on some ecosystem services in Mexico.
