Biography

Alex Crescentini is an economic researcher in the Exploratory Modeling of Human-natural Systems (EM) Research Group of the IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program. He joined IIASA in 2024, working on complexity and macroeconomic models under the supervision of the EM Research Group Leader Sebastian Poledna.

Between 2023 and 2024, he worked at the Directorate of Research of the European Central Bank. He was part of the Senior Macro-Finance Team focusing on policy modeling (DSGE) to assess the impact of macroprudential, conventional, and unconventional measures for the financial stability of the Euro area.

In 2023, Crescentini obtained a PhD in Economics at the Universita' Politecnica delle Marche in Italy, spending a year as a visitor at the Universite' Catholique du Louvain in Belgium. His main focus was on assessing the impact of migration and population dynamics on the natural interest rate  using an Overlapping Generations (OLG) setup.
