As a member of the CIFAR President’s Advisory Council, Van Jaarsveld joins eminent scholars from a wide range of disciplines responsible for helping the President & Chief Executive Officer shape and influence CIFAR's research portfolio.

Van Jaarsveld has extensive science leadership experience and served as co-chair of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment follow-up: Sub-global assessment, Chair of the G8 science ministers' group of senior officials on global research infrastructure; on the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services external review panel, the Global Forum of Funders and International Science Council Technical Advisory Group for Mission oriented science and as member of the Future Earth external review Panel. I am excited to be invited to be part of the President’s Advisory Council and look forward to contributing and engaging with the community.
