Strengthening policy for clean air and climate solutions in the ASEAN region
A new report released by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), highlights the urgent need for integrated policies to address air pollution and climate change across Southeast Asia. IIASA researchers contributed as authors of the first chapter, laying the foundation for science-based policy action.

Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation visits IIASA
H.E. Dato' Sri Dr. Adham bin Baba, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Malaysia, a former IIASA member country, visited the IIASA premises in Laxenburg to meet with IIASA Director General Albert van Jaarsveld on 25 September 2022 to discuss the IIASA research agenda and ways to strengthen scientific cooperation between IIASA and Malaysia.

New oil palm map to inform policy and landscape-level planning
IIASA researchers have used Sentinel 1 satellite imagery from the European Space Agency to produce a map of the extent and year of detection of oil palm plantations in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand that will help policymakers and other stakeholders understand trends in oil palm expansion to inform landscape-level planning.
