Biography
Nicholas Gailey joined IIASA as a researcher in January 2018.He investigates broad challenges in the field of population and development, producing policy-oriented reports and scientific publications. Major themes of his recent work include population aging, emigration of highly skilled workers (brain drain), and resilience of the future labor force. He has contributed to various country- and region-specific initiatives to promote both more nuanced, human capital-centered demographic analyses and realistic expectations for policy interventions.
Gailey holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Vienna, as well as an MA in Journalism from Stanford University and a BSc degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
