Biography
Dr. Gergely Boza is a guest research scholar in the Cooperation and Transformative Governance (CAT) research group, part of the Advancing Systems Analysis (ASA) program at IIASA. He visited IIASA first in 2007 and has taken part in several research programs and projects since, such as the Evolution and Ecology (EEP) program, the Advanced Systems Analysis (ASA) program, the Risk and Resilience (RISK) program, the Systemic Risk and Network Dynamics (SRND) and the Equitable Governance of Common Goods (EGCG) cross-cutting projects. His current research focuses on the evolution of cooperation, the role of behavioral and social diversity in the dynamics of collective action and governing the commons, and applying systems thinking and ecological modeling to socio-economic ecosystem with a special focus on digital platform ecosystems.Gergely Boza graduated and earned his PhD degree in 2013, from the Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest (Hungary). He has been hosted by numerous research institutes, including the Department of Plant Systematics, Ecology and Theoretical Biology (Eotvos University, H), the Evolutionary Systems Research Group at the Evolutionary Research Institute, (Centre for Ecological Research, H), the Centre for Social Sciences (H), the Ecology Research Group (H), the Parmenides Center for the Study of Thinking (Germany), and the Collegium Budapest, Institute for Advanced Study (H). His research has focused on the evolution and stability of cooperative investments within, and between species. Since, he has worked on numerous research projects, such as investigating scenarios of prebiotic evolution, the problems of the origin of life, the dynamics of microbial communities, the study of social dilemmas, the evolution of cooperation and mutualism, the dynamics of collective actions, aspects of! the ecological and evolutionary stability of communities, and understanding the dynamics of techno-socio-economic systems.
Dr. Boza's expertise and interests revolve around ecological, evolutionary an systems thinking, and theoretical modeling, including includes agent-, or individual-based modeling, spatially explicit modeling, models of evolutionary game theory, and various models of theoretical and evolutionary ecology. His scientific interest span over the research areas from the infra-individual (molecular) level up to the level of societies.
