The special issue, which was coedited by TNT researcher and IIASA Deputy Director Nebojsa Nakicenovic, reported on IIASA research on the occasion of the 40th anniversary conference of the institute [1]. Arnulf Grubler (with Yuri Ermoliev and the late Arkadii Kryazhimskiy) published a paper on “Coping with Uncertainties”, giving examples of cutting-edge research into technology innovation at IIASA. The study also explored IIASA modeling of decisions under uncertainty, which is particularly relevant in technology innovation investment and research and development decisions.

Altogether TNT Program members edited, authored, or coauthored three special issues of journals, 26 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, and eight additional papers in 2015. This equates to a noteworthy output productivity of seven papers per (full-time equivalent) scientist per year.
