The policy scenarios serve as scientific basis for European policies addressing non-CO2 greenhouses gases, e.g., EU's Effort Sharing Regulations (2013/162/EU and 2018/842/EU), which distribute the non-CO2 mitigation efforts across EU member states with the aim of reaching the EU greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in the short- and long-runs.
