This week the EPFL International Risk Governance Center (IRGC) convenes a virtual expert workshop on 'Transition risk governance: Smoothing the path to a low-carbon economy and society' concerned with the identification, evaluation and governance of the risks that may be caused by the move to a low-carbon economy and society.

Susanne Hanger-Kopp, Research Scholar of IIASA's Risk and Resilience Program has been invited to share her expertise in creating inter- and transdisciplinary risk approaches to assess transition risks. The workshop will bring together researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders from around the world to consider the potential risks that the climate transition may create: from financial disruption and labour-market upheaval to societal strains and geopolitical tensions. It will produce a policy brief on the principles for identifying, evaluating and governing risks related to the transitions to a low-carbon economy and society.
