ENE research focuses on the complex links between land use and energy, including in particular the contribution of agriculture and land-use change to non-CO2 GHGs and air pollution; and the implications of increasing bio- energy for land and food supply. In this regard, ENE collaborates closely with the Ecosystem Services & Management Program in order to integrate information and expand its modeling capacity.

A recent research theme in the ENE program is the implications of water use in energy extraction and conversion to existing and projected scarcities in fresh water around the world.
