Science and policy must work together to achieve a sustainable future for humanity.
Gamze Ünlü joined IIASA in October, 2019, as a Research Assistant with the Energy (ENE) program. Her main research interests include policy design for energy transition, energy systems modeling and scenario analysis to support policy decisions. Her previous work includes agent based modeling of socio technical systems with a focus on investment decisions for renewable energy systems, policy analysis of the coupling between heat and power sectors in the Netherlands as a flexibility option by using the European power systems model COMPETES. The study focuses on the effects of the sector coupling on power sector as well as the necessary policy instruments such as tax shifts.
Ms. Ünlü obtained her MSc degree in Complex Systems Engineering and Management from Delft University of Technology specializing in energy systems, modeling and simulation (2019). She completed her undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering in Turkey, Bilkent University (2017).
