Francesco Lovat joined IIASA in October 2019, as a Research Assistant with the Energy (ENE) program. His main research interests include energy system modeling with a special focus on the transport sector, future development and scalability of renewables and scenario analyses to support policy decisions. His MSc thesis was about using the TIMES-DK model to assess the future role of electrofuels in Denmark. He also has expertise in energy economics and policies, electricity markets, mathematical modeling and feasibility studies of energy projects.
Mr. Lovat holds an MSc degree in Sustainable Energy from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) with a specialization in energy system analysis (2019). In 2017, he graduated with a B.Eng in Industrial Technologies Engineering from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).
