Science and policy must work together to achieve a sustainable future for humanity.
Dr. Franziska Gaupp is a research scholar working jointly with the Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) and Risk and Resilience (RISK) programs.
Dr. Gaupp is interested in food systems and systemic risk modeling. Currently, she is co-leading the 'Forging Resilience Deep Demonstration' project funded by Climate-KIC which uses systems analysis and a set of quantitative and qualitative modelling tools to foster transformative change towards a resilient future. Additionally, she works in the H2020 RECEIPT project where she investigates how multiple breadbasket failure impacts the global and European food systems through compound extreme events, inter-linkages and cascading effects.
Dr. Gaupp hosts The Food Systems Podcast where she talks to different actors in the global food system.
Dr. Gaupp joined IIASA after completing a DPhil (PhD) at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford, where she investigated global water security in major river basins and simultaneous climate risks to agriculture in the global breadbaskets. She holds an MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Economics from the Freie Universität in Berlin.
