Composite social-environmental systems are at the focus of systems analysis nowadays. Due to a high complexity of such structures, systems analysts deal often with families of models that view the underlying systems from different angles. Since any individual model in a family is bound to capture part of a system’s elements and ignore the others, various attempts to integrate alternative models have been made – especially in the fields of statistics, forecasting, and climate and economy modelling.
The workshop is intended to discuss methodologies for integration of alternative models for complex social-environmental systems in general, as well as related specific case-studies which IIASA is supposed to do within the FP7-funded COMPLEX project.
In addition to that, the workshop will further discuss more generally how integration of knowledge generated by different models, and other studies within the COMPLEX project will be performed.
Representatives of the COMPLEX project will be taking part in this workshop.
