Yurii Yermoliev co-organized the kick-off workshop of the joint NASU-IIASA project “Integrated robust management of food-energy-water-land use Nexus for sustainable development”

Yurii Yermoliev co-organized the kick-off workshop and a series of the follow-up meetings of the joint NASU (National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine) and IIASA project “Integrated robust management of food-energy-water-land use Nexus for sustainable development” addressing problems of common interest for Ukraine, IIASA and globally, emerging in designing coherent solutions for robust sustainable NEXUS management, which cannot be solved by traditional independent scenario-by-scenario deterministic analysis.

The workshop was hosted by the National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine (NASU) and was held in Kiev, Ukraine on 7-8 September, 2017. At the workshop, the partners from six NASU Academic Institutes discussed the aims of the project focusing on further development and implementation of novel systems analysis approaches, accounting for complex linkages and differences in spatial and temporal scales between agriculture, energy, water systems, potential exogenously and endogenously generated collective systemic risks and new coherent feasible policies enabling FEWES nexus security. Partners highlighted the achievements of the 2012-2016 IIASA-NASU project and presented and discussed coordinated consistent plans across the partners of the current 2017-2021 project.
