The purpose of the Supplementary Guidance is to provide methodologies for estimating anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions by sources and removals by sinks resulting from land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) activities under the rules of the Kyoto Protocol. IIASA researchers Fabian Wagner and Hannes Böttcher are lead authors on the report and will participate in the meeting.

The current guidelines will be expanded and revised according to new rules on forest management, natural disturbances and wetlands that have only been agreed upon recently.
