The YSSP 2016 will host 51 elite young scientists from around the world, who are currently working on or have recently completed their PhD. During the program, participants work on independent research projects in collaboration with IIASA scientists. This year’s participants hail from 26 countries, and will work on projects within each of the institute’s nine research programs.

The YSSP is one of the most successful programs at IIASA. Many alumni of the program have gone on to highly successful careers in academia, policy, and government. This year again saw a record number of applications, with 347.

This year also marks the first year of the IIASA science communication internship. The successful applicant will work closely with the YSSP participants to help communicate their research to a broader audience.
