Joint IIASA-NERC Conference: Systems Analysis Applied to Environment and Health

The one-day conference brought together experts, academics and practitioners to explore the latest developments in systems analysis and modelling, and discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of engaging decision makers with systems analysis. The conference was an opportunity to debate the policy areas to which systems analysis can be applied. Its aim was to stimulate research and collaboration on applying leading-edge modelling and systems approaches to issues of scientific and policy interest. 

The conference concluded with a networking event to further discuss the opportunities of systems analysis, share good practice and to create and strengthen collaborations.

Following the welcoming address by Professor Alex Halliday, Vice President and Physical Secretary of the Royal Society, IIASA Director General and CEO Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat gave some opening remarks. He was joined by Professor Duncan Wingham, Chief Executive of NERC and IIASA Council Member for the United Kingdom. Kabat also participated in the last session of the conference on Opportunities for Integrated Assessment Model Research to discuss IIASA-UK Collaborations, and reflected on previous conference sessions.
