IIASA intensifies relationships with Korea

In October, IIASA Director General and CEO, Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat and Special Advisor to the Director General, Prof. Chin-Min Lee made an official visit to the Republic of Korea.

Activities included the signing of memorandums of understanding with:

  1. The ASEAN-ROK Forest Cooperation (AFoCo) Secretariat to cooperate on a range of research areas including forest management and biofuels;
  2. The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to establish research collaborations in the areas of green technology diffusion and deployment among other areas;
  3. Korea University to develop research and scientific exchange activities; and
  4. The Global Green Growth Institute to develop green economic growth options and to establish further collaborations.

Meetings also took place with the Korean Vice-Minister of Environment and the Director General of the National Institute for Environmental Research among others.
