Public lecture to mark the signing of MoU with Alpen-Adria-University

On 16 December, to mark the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding between IIASA and the Alpen-Adria-University, the two organizations will host a public lecture in Vienna.

IIASA Director General and CEO Professor Dr Pavel Kabat will join Verena Winiwarter, professor at the Alpen-Adria-Universtity (AAU) Institute for Social Ecology (SEC) to give a public lecture. Winiwarter is Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies and professor of environmental history, she was also named  “Austrian Scientist of the Year 2013” by the Club of Education and Science Journalists in January 2014.

The lecture marks the signing of a MoU between IIASA and AAU - in particular with the Vienna based Institute for Social Ecology, to formalize future plans for collaboration between the two organizations. There is significant cross over in the research conducted by both organizations and the collaboration will include integration of researchers from both organizations, joint capacity building activities, and AAU participation in IIASA's International Postgraduate School of Excellence.
