Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan visits IIASA

H.E. Bakyt Dzhusupov, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the International Organizations in Vienna, met with Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat, IIASA Director General and CEO, to discuss potential research collaborations between Kyrgyzstan and IIASA.

The newly appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative was introduced to IIASA, its history, research agenda, and science to policy activities.

Kabat and H.E. Dzhusupov particularly discussed the IIASA Futures Initiative Challenges and Opportunities of Economic Integration within a Wider European and Eurasian Space.

The two-year initiative consists of a series of workshops at which specific aspects of integration are discussed by scientists and stakeholders representing all interested regions. Follow-up discussion summaries, notes, opinion papers, position papers, and other publications outline the state of the art in this field and reflect on different futures. Kabat invited different stakeholders from Kyrgyzstan, including business community, to actively participate in this important initiative.

H.E. Dzhusupov was accompanied by Kairat Tursunkulov, First Secretary of the Embassy, and Kabat was joined by Chin-Min Lee, Special Advisor to the IIASA Director General and CEO; Jan Marco Müller, Head of Directorate Office, Science to Policy and Diplomacy Coordinator/Science Officer; Nadejda Komendantova, Research Scholar; and Sergey Sizov, Science Diplomacy Officer.
