The ISEM-GC 2016 is dedicated to promote the international exchange of ideas, scientific results, and general knowledge in the area of the application of systems analysis and simulation in ecology and natural resources management. The conference is chaired by Brian D. Fath, Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Towson University (Maryland, USA) and Research Scholar within the Advanced Systems Analysis Program at IIASA, who will participate in a keynote presentation (Flourishing within the Limits to Growth) in honor of the contributions of Sven E. Jørgensen to ecological systems analysis. Another presentation will be given by Stephan A. Pietsch, Research Scholar within the Ecosystem Services and Management Program and Qualified Professor in Ecosystem Modelling at BOKU-University (Vienna, Austria) on Steady States vs. unfolding of Full Model Dynamics, who will also chair one of the sessions on Dynamical Ecological Simulation Models of aquatic ecosystems.

Conference Themes:

  • Dynamic Ecological Simulation Models (aquatic, terrestrial, energetics, biogeochemical, etc.)
  • Ecological Modelling and Environmental Management (Risk assessment, Flow Analysis, Sustainability, Ecotoxicology, Monitoring and Planning)
  • Modelling Coupled Natural and Social Systems (Socio-Ecological, Urban, Integrated Assessment)
  • Modelling of Ecosystem Services
  • Biodiversity and Conservation Modelling
  • Ecological Landscape and Land Use Change Modelling
  • Ecological Modelling for Climate Change
  • Network Modelling
  • Systems Ecology
