Eduroam - Educational network Internet Roaming Access
Eduroam is a consortium of international institutions within the educational and research community providing free access to each other's secured wireless networks by logging in with a user's home institution login and password.
Eduroam Instructions for IIASA Windows Vista and Windows 7
- In the Control Panel, open Network and Internet.
- Click View Network Status and Tasks.
- Click Manage Wireless Networks in the left pane.
- Click Add.
- Select Manually Create a Network Profile.
- Enter the Network name: eduroam.
- Chose Security type: WPA-Enterprise or WP2-Enterprise. (leave the Security Key field empty).
- Click the Next button.
- Click Change connection settings.
- Click the Security tab.
- Unfold Chose a network authentication method and chose Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Click Settings
- Uncheck Validate server certificate
- Click Configure …
- Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon …
- Click 3x OK and the Close Buttons
- To connect to just defined network, click the network icon on the right hand side of the task bar, click on eduroam and click Connect
- Enter your IIASA username and password into the window which has just popped up and click OK
