Pekka Kauppi, 1981 YSSP
Professor of Environmental Science and Policy, Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki
Professor Kauppi has focused his research on global forests and their ecosystem services, especially on the interplay between forests and climate. He has made an international career as an author within the IPCC and other international fora and has received many scientific awards for his contributions to environmental science and policy research. Pekka Kauppi has worked at IIASA a total of about four years and he is very grateful to the collaboration and lasting contacts with colleagues and friends, whom he first met at IIASA many years ago.
