MICAT aims to develop a comprehensive approach to estimate Multiple Impacts of Energy Efficiency (MI-EE) by co-creating a free, easy-to-use, scientifically sound online tool (MICATool). The MICATool will enable holistic analyses of MI-EE at the European, national and local level to strengthen the climate strategy of the Energy Union and accelerate an affordable and just, sustainable energy transition by addressing the challenges and needs of important target groups: policy makers, practitioners and evaluators.

The IIASA TRUST Strategic Initiative focuses on:
(i) strengthening the knowledge base for raising awareness on fostering trust through participation-driven science, (ii) lowering the barrier for scientists to use participation-driven approaches, and (iii) providing concrete empirical evidence of the role of participation driven science for raising trust in science. TRUST solidifies IIASA’s Strategy goal to promote the use of participatory processes and soft systems analysis and enables researchers to work towards earning trust among the wider public.

The main objective of the NATURANCE project is to examine technical, financial and operational feasibility and performance of solutions that are built upon and combine disaster risk financing & investments with Nature-based Solutions (NbS).

The HuT is an Innovation Action project funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. The project addresses the distributive justice implications of extreme climate event impacts and aims at developing innovative and procedurally just Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) solutions for dealing with extreme climate events.
Research Project
A consortium consisting of the SYRR group of IIASA, ETH Zurich, and the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) will undertake macro-level socio-economic risk modelling, scenario assessment and policy analysis to understand how public sector climate and disaster risk financing strategies interact and complement risk reduction interventions in order to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable countries. IIASA will build on its CatSim Model to not only assess fiscal implications but also study broader resilience impact on relevant case study countries studied. The project will finally seek to develop recommendations on the design of smart support regarding comprehensive risk management for the case study countries.
