BRIDGES was founded in 2019 as an informal network of practitioners dealing with science diplomacy and international relations in large international research infrastructures and organizations. The network brings together representatives of 11 major international research organizations: European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), European Space Agency (ESA), European XFEL GmbH, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization, The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Square Kilometre Array Organisation (SKAO), and Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME).

BRIDGES serves as a platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices among its members. It provides opportunity for international research infrastructures to team up in promoting capacity-building in the field of science diplomacy.

The session aimed to introduce BRIDGES network to the wider science diplomacy community and to discuss with the audience emergent relevant issues.
